Zapatera Island

The island of Zapatera, the second largest in Lake Nicaragua, is famous for its rich pre-Columbian past and the archeological findings. This region was the meeting point and the exchange location for many Indian tribes traveling throughout Central and South America.

Starting from the Isletas of Granada, this tour combines the visit of the pre-Columbian sites of Muerto Island, a refreshing bath in the water of the great lake, a hike by the lagoon of Zapatera, and ultimately the discovery of the rural life of this region of Nicaragua. Zapatera Island - Nicaragua
